In 2001, My husband, Bill, and I moved to Lexington, Kentucky, for my new job. Lexington is horse country.  I have never been around horses and knew nothing about them.  A few years later after we settled in Lexington, my husband bought me a horse, and this in part made his dream come true, a long-time dream to have an Arabian horse.

That was the beginning and since then, as an amateur, I have shown our horses in Sport Horse in Hand, Sport Horse Under Saddle, dressage, and Trail. These experiences were brought about through an excellent horse trainer and riding coach, Martha Rattner.  As I improved with my riding, Martha introduced me to Zorrado, a gray gelding and western horse. We acquired Zorrado and I began riding him late in 2018. I started learning to ride in the Western discipline (Western Pleasure and Western Dressage). I am still learning and continuing to improve.

It is indeed an achievement to be able to ride, especially when Zorrado and I are both up there in years. Zorrado has really made me learn how to ride and not get nervous when I get on a horse. I enjoy every ride; it is our dance together.  I wish to thank Martha Rattner who has had the patience to get me to where I am right now, my husband, Bill, for his support, and of course The Dressage Foundation’s Century Club for this honor.
