Team #736 Alice Sarno and TNT M&M PATRON

Team #736: Alice Sarno and TNT M&M PATRON
From: Phoenix, Arizona
Ages: 74 & 26
Combined Age: 100
Test: Training Level Test 3

I started riding at the age of nine and have never stopped. Growing up, my family raised Appaloosa horses in Las Vegas, NV. I began showing our Appaloosa stallion in both English and Western disciplines. Since I wasn’t allowed to show a stallion in junior classes, I competed in all the open classes. We formed a great team, winning numerous ribbons and trophies. This success led to opportunities to train horses for our clients, give riding lessons, and build my own business.

In the early 1960s, I was introduced to 3-Day Eventing and never looked back, eventually competing up to the Advanced Level. Nowadays, I find great enjoyment in riding dressage and being a role model for those who think they are too old to get out there and RIDE!

At 17, I managed my first horse show for the Las Vegas Appaloosa Club, and I enjoyed it so much that I’ve continued organizing shows ever since. I am now in my 30th year as the organizer for the Coconino Horse Trials in Flagstaff, AZ.

From 2016 to 2022, I served on the USEA Board of Governors. Since 1983, I’ve been living in Phoenix, AZ, where I’ve introduced many riders of all ages to the sport of Eventing. I teach at the fabulous Carefree Farms in Desert Hills, AZ, with three wonderful school horses. I love working with riders of all ages and their own horses.

One of my very special school horses is Patron, a Morgan who has been with me for many years. Patron turned 26 on the day I rode him in my Century Club ride.
