Team #772: Barbara Schulz and Logan’s Run
From: Sisters, Oregon
Ages: 82 & 18
Combined Age: 100
Test: Fourth Level Test 1

Barbara Schulz and her Moriesian horse Logan’s Run rode Fourth Level Test 1 at the Summer Sizzler Dressage show on June 22, 2024. Barb and Logan have been a competing pair for 10 years, earning their USDF bronze medal in two registered shows. Together they are 100 years old!

Barb was a horse statue collector as a child and progressed to the real thing at age 34. She has been a horse owner for the past 50 years, starting out with a three-year-old grade mare and moving to a five-year-old Appaloosa/Thoroughbred horse. She began competing in three-day eventing and participated in pre-training, training, and preliminary levels in the Seattle, WA, area.

Upon moving to Sisters, Oregon, Barb found Logan, an eight-year-old Moriesian, and knew she had to have him. She promised her husband that she would no longer jump horses and began to learn real dressage with her new equine partner Logan, a cross between a Friesian stallion and a Morgan dam. Together, they moved up through the levels while training with Natalie Perry at Alliance Equestrian Center. They now compete at Fourth Level and train in some PSG moves.

Logan never runs out of energy. He is always a willing partner and loves his work. He is known at the barn as a heart horse because he loves his owner and always meets her at the gate when he sees her coming. For others, he likes to play catch-me-if-you-can by trotting circles around the staff when they try to change rugs as the weather changes. He is just having fun.

Barb is now 82 and Logan is 18. She is having a hard time believing that she is really 82, as she rides and trains six days per week regularly unless stopped by too much smoke in the air from Central Oregon wildfires.
