I am part of three generations of horse people. My father started a small boarding stable, mostly to help pay for our own horse habit. As time went on, I expanded the business and added training. When my nieces became involved in Pony Club, I was introduced to eventing. My sister, nieces, several friends and I all got the eventing “bug.”
In the 1980’s I began competing in eventing and dressage. In 2010 Draft On Tap, a 17-hand, Clydesdale Thoroughbred cross, and I became a team. We take dressage and jumping lessons, with the goal of always being the best we can be. Draft On Tap has an amazing work ethic, and he is so willing and honest. The learning and fun in this sport never stops.
Preparing for our Century Club ride has been exciting, and I thank my dressage instructor, Dorothy Hokanson, for her help. It was a great day with my family there to cheer me on. I feel that the preparation has made Draft On Tap and me a better team. Our Century Club ride was at Erie Hunt and Saddle Club in Edinboro, PA, on August 16, 2024
Adding to my enthusiasm about the Century Club, I once had the great experience of riding in a Max Gahwyler clinic.
