Rocko and I started working together in mid-2016 as part of my recovery from a knee reconstruction surgery. Our first outing was to the Maryland State Fair to participate in a competition sponsored by Horses Healing Maryland’s Military Members Showcase. We earned our first rosettes including Champion.
We went on to achieve Reserve Champion at the Therapeutic Riding Division at the Devon Horse Show. This Century Club ride was our last show together. Now I am content to hack out and spend time teaching new young riders not just balanced seat, but to have fun being with a partner who can help them with life lessons of patience, responsibility, leadership and so much more. Yes, I am a Para rider who is a 100% disabled Air Force veteran.
