I have always been intrigued and impressed by horses but could never have one of my own. Occasionally throughout my life, I would go horseback riding on rented horses. In 2005, at the age of 63 and six years after retiring, I was in a position where I could have “live at home” horses. After shopping around, I bought an eleven-month-old Pinto colt and a 13-year-old “broke” black mare (yeah right, worse than buying a used car!).

I named the Pinto “Smooth Bullett.” His sire was Smooth Fella. Bullett quickly became my companion, and I learned how smart horses really are.  Being a TV student of Clinton Anderson, I learned how to teach horses. As I tell people Bullett is not broke, he is domesticated. Through the years we have shown versatility shows, obstacle challenges, and competitive trail horse events.

In 2014, I was introduced to Western Dressage and have been showing it ever since. This year Bullett turned 20 and I turned 82. On March 15, 2024, Bullett underwent major intestinal surgery to remove five lipoma tumors, one was strangling his small intestines.  He was at the Palm Beach Equine Clinic in Wellington, Florida, for twelve days. I have been slowly rehabbing him since I brought him home. Now he is all healed up and he is ready to show. I am looking forward to many more shows in the future.
