Growing up with a non-horse family in Colorado, I loved the idea of riding and got a very green-broke mare when I was 21. Our training consisted of me reading horse training books at night and trying things out the next day. I was lucky that my mare was patient and honest! After years of trail riding in the mountains, doing things I didn’t know enough not to do, I lost my trail horse, purchased Carbon Kopy+, and first stepped into the show arena at the age of 40. He retired to become the most wonderful mountain trail horse while I continued to ride and show.
That brought us to Dettanader +/, another pure-bred Arabian. Now, at nearly 25 years, Dettanader has done everything we have asked, starting with Arabian Hunter Pleasure and Sport Horse Under Saddle. We’ve played at Classic Dressage and most recently landed with Western Dressage and Arabian Sport Horse Under Saddle, where we have enjoyed ample success. Most recently we participated in a virtual show and hope to do more in the future. Our trainer, Ann Judge, is doing her best to keep us in shape and going forward! Our friends at the barn bring laughter and joy to our days!
