I’m very grateful for the opportunity to represent The Dressage Foundation with the Dr. Anne Barlow Ramsay Grant for U.S.-Bred Horses. Over the past 12 months, Fleur and I have progressed immensely. This could not have been done without the generous funding provided by the grant.

We began the winter training with German Team squad member Frederic Wandres. Fleur and I spent three months soaking up all the knowledge we could obtain in our lessons with “Freddy.” Although we competed at the small tour level internationally with many successful placings in Wellington, we always kept our sights on getting to the Grand Prix.

Fleur began to show a real talent for the three P’s: Piaffe, Passage, and Pirouettes. After our intense winter filled with shows, we made the journey across the Atlantic to Rahden, Germany, where we spent close to two months training with Danish Team Technical Advisor, Wolfram Wittig. We focused a lot on taking the step up to the Grand Prix and even got to travel to her first European show in Elmlohe, Germany, for schooling. We used this as a chance to learn how to navigate the European showgrounds and surround ourselves with some of the best riders in the world. Watching and retaining everything we could while were there.

As part of the USEF Development Program, we had our most recent clinic with the U.S.A. Development Coach, Charlotte Bredhal. I’m elated that Charlotte was equally impressed with Fleur as Freddy and Wolfram were and she was so excited about all the progress we had made in our journey to polishing the Grand Prix movements. Fleur hopes to make her Intermediate II debut this winter at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, and it is all thanks to the generous funding from the Dr. Anne Barlow Ramsay Grant.
