Fern Feldman (CT)
Fern Feldman rode weekly for a few years between the ages of 8-11. Then, after a hiatus of many years, she started again at the age of 45. She started at Training Level, earning her USDF bronze and silver medals along the way. And then, in 2012, at the age of 69, she obtained her USDF gold medal with her palomino Connemara pony. She has always credited her success to wonderful trainers and horses/ponies.
In 1995, Fern became the USDF Region 8 Director, and held that post for 20 years. In 1999, she worked with Lendon Gray to establish what has become the well-known non-profit, Dressage4Kids, and is still the vice-president of that organization. She joined the TDF board in 2018 as she felt that under Beth Baumert’s leadership TDF had become an integral part of the ‘giving back’ that is so important in the sport of horses and dressage. In 2019, Fern received the USDF Lifetime Achievement Award.
Fern continues to work on her dressage skills daily with her trainer and friend, Jessica Rizzi. She lives in Cheshire, CT, with her husband Barry of 57 years. They have six grandchildren.
